Dental Cleanings: the Benefits to Your Health

June 11, 2021

Our Artistry in Dentistry team is pleased to offer professional dental cleanings to not only prevent tooth decay and gum disease from, but they also help protect you against heart disease, stroke, and oral cancer, as oral infections can impact other areas of the body via the bloodstream.
To keep your smile healthy, maintain good oral hygiene habits by brushing and flossing every day to reduce plaque and keep your smile free from dental caries and gingivitis.

During your six-month cleanings and checkups, your dental team will do the following:
-Go over any changes in your health and note your current medications.

-Look for signs or cavities, gingivitis, or oral cancer, and at least once a year take dental X-rays.

-Scrape hardened plaque (tartar) off your teeth using dental instruments made for the job and floss around the gumline and between teeth (tartar is a major contributor to tooth decay and gum disease).

-Our deep cleaning removes tooth stains that have built up since your last cleaning as well as polish the teeth and restore their brightness.

-Discuss your oral hygiene care with you and answer questions or concerns you bring up.

-Recommend treatment for any oral issues discovered during the exam. You may be referred to another oral health care specialist, have more diagnostic tests done, or schedule dental restoration such as fillings, crowns, or other dental treatment.

A professional cleaning benefits your smile and your body. If you would like to know more about our dental cleanings or to schedule yours, please call us at 602-492-9003 today!
